Presidential Palace

 

      Nanjing Presidential Palace lies in the city center of Nanjing and covers an area of 120,000 square meters. Because of its legendary events and sagas, it becomes a hotspot for tourists both at home and aboard.
 
      Nanjing Presidential Palace has a very long and comprehensive history in ancient China. The site was originally built as the Marquis Guide’s Palace and Prince Han’s Palace in early Ming Dynasty.  During Qing Dynasty, the office of Jiangsu and Zhejiang Governor-General was set down here. Besides, it was also the temporary dwelling place for Emperor Kang xi and Qian long when they were inspecting in Yangtze River Delta.
 
      After the establishment of the Republic of China, Dr. Sun Yatsen was voted as the President of Pubic of China and handled official affairs here. After World War II, the central government returned to Nanjing from 1946 to 1949. However, it became a museum for tourist after the liberation in 1949.
