Shanghai
The Bund

The glory and refinement of Shanghai is concentrated on this stretch of the Huangpu River extending from Yan’an Donglu to the Waibaidu Bridge. This 15 km street is called Zhongshan Dong Yi Lu. It approaches to the mother river, Huangpu River, in its east. On the other side, there are 52 different buildings with Gothic, Romanesque, Baroque and Chinese-European styles which are considered as the Natural Museum of Buildings.

The bund was originally a muddy land close to Huangpu River. After the Opium War, the foreigners started to develop the area. In the 1880s, the British-donated Municipal Council decided to covert it into a public esplanade and connect it to the public gardens that were established in 1868.  With the development of the city, the bund was developed as Shanghai's "Financial Street" or "the East Wall Street" which created the legends and sagas of the stunning city of Far East.
