Mysterious Zhangjiajie

　　Zhangjiajie is situated in the northwest of Hunan province, in the juncture of the Yunan-Guizhou Plateau and the subsidence of Dongting Lake. The city covers an area of 9,653 square kilometers, which accounts for 4.5 percent of Hunan province.

　　It features a variety of different terrains including mountainous regions, upland areas, plains, and Karst rock areas. Among these, the mountains cover 76 percent of the total area. The world-famous natural heritage site Wulingyuan Scenic Area is located on the base of these great mountains. Areas worth visiting include Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (known as the first national forest park in China), Suoxiyu Natural Resource Reserve, and Tianzi Mountain Natural Resource Reserve. The scenic area hosts many natural features including: mountains, forests, caves, lakes and waterfalls and perhaps there are more than three thousand rock ridges and eight hundred ghylls. They enjoy the reputation of Original Picture on Mountain and River of China.

Itinerary

Day 1 Shanghai-Zhangjiajie

This evening, take flight to Zhangjiajie from Shanghai. Upon arrival, meet the local guide and transfer to check-in at 4 Star Zhuan Jia Cun Hotel.

Day 2 Zhangjiajie(B/LD)

After breakfast, we’ll drive to visit the world cultural heritage scenic area - Zhangjiajie. Take the cable car up to the Tianzi Mountain, which is a virgin scenic attraction, “the most beautiful but not yet known to the world for its height.” which also provides a bird view to all the mountains and valleys of the Wuling Mountains.

This afternoon, continue to Yuanjiajie Scenic Area (up and down by cable cars), where you will find the so-called the First Bridge under Heaven. Dinner will be served local specialty.

Stay at the 4 star Zhuan Jia Cun Hotel.

Day 3 Zhangjiajie-Shanghai(B/L/D)

In the morning, visit the Golden Whip Stream, which flows over the rock and winds its way between precipitous cliffs and peaks. Then visit the Four Gates surrounding by Water. In the afternoon, continue to visit Baofeng Lake, which is like a great mirror with hills surrounding it.

This evening, drive to the airport for the return flight back to Shanghai.
